High energy costs and an ill-performing overdoor heater caused excessive draughts of cold air to travel into the shopping centre’s foyer. This resulted in an uncomfortable environment for shoppers and staff alike. The customer had existing Enershield Air Barriers operating at other openings in the shopping centre and wanted to replicate this where the heater was positioned.
Following a comprehensive analysis of the site, we suggested the installation of our Enershield Microshield Air Barrier in place of the overdoor heater. Our Microshield Air Barriers are specifically designed for industries such as retail, where there is lower headroom above the doorway. Enershield Air Barriers function as secure seals between external and internal conditions, preventing any leakage of air between two areas, and are ideal for the shopping centre entrance.
The airflow management of the Air Barrier significantly reduces energy waste, thereby minimising the energy costs of the shopping centre, as desired by our customer. Therefore, we removed the existing overdoor heater and installed the Microshield Air Barrier in its place. The Air Barrier was carefully fitted into the existing space, ensuring no disruption to the surrounding structure or daily operations.
The Microshield Air Barrier has significantly improved internal conditions within the shopping centre and enhanced overall energy efficiency, supporting both cost reduction and sustainability goals. Following the installation, we have received positive feedback from the customer regarding the performance and outcome of the project.
