Our customer wanted to develop upon the comfortable conditions of their building and asked us to create a solution. Due to the successful first phase of the 3 existing Air Barikade units, our customer asked us to expand the protected zone, providing additional heat further down in the same area.
Following a detailed site survey, we developed a solution that would efficiently separate internal and external conditions while allowing the terminal to remain fully operational.
As the work took place during peak daytime hours, we began by installing temporary partition walls to contain our working area. This helped minimise pedestrian disruption and reduced the risk of external or environmental impacts on the rest of the terminal. Once the space was secured and fully assessed, we progressed with the installation.
We supplied and installed two Air Barikade heated Air Barriers above the newly refurbished check-in entrances as part of the ongoing upgrade works.
To maintain a suitable minimum temperature and prevent unnecessary energy consumption, we set the temperature to 16°C prior to the heater being switched on. Finally, we mounted the controllers in front of the partition for easier access.
The Air Barikades are controlled by photocells and reflectors; therefore, they are activated based on the door opening. As a result of the independent thermostatic control, the heating system only functions when necessary.
The installation of the two Air BariKades is now complete and fully aligned with the required operational specifications. The Air Barriers are operating seamlessly alongside the existing system, providing consistent and efficient supplementary heating at the newly refurbished check-in entrances.
