ChannelPorts aims to deliver an excellent customer experience while operating sustainably and efficiently. Their existing overhead heated air curtains were consuming a significant amount of energy, resulting in high operating costs. To manage this, the units were switched off, which reduced spend but compromised internal comfort and environmental control. To maintain high service standards without rising energy use, ChannelPorts needed a more efficient way to protect indoor conditions at busy entrance points.
Following a detailed site survey and an understanding of ChannelPorts’ operational requirements, we specified and installed two Comfortshield Air Barriers (ECS) at the main lorry and car park entrances. An additional Microshield (MCS) Air Barrier was installed at a new entrance serving coach passengers.
Enershield Air Barrier technology recirculates internal air to form a smooth, continuous seal across open doorways. This maintains clear separation between indoor and outdoor environments without restricting access, reducing the impact of external weather conditions and improving environmental control.
The result is a marked reduction in outside air entering the building, supporting stable internal temperatures and a more efficient, comfortable operational environment.
The installation of Enershield Air Barriers has delivered a noticeable improvement across the facility. By stabilising internal temperatures and removing the need for energy-intensive overhead heaters, the premises now benefit from a more comfortable and controlled environment.
