Due to the high footfall and continuous use of their doors, it was very difficult to maintain a comfortable internal temperature. The temperature loss was affecting the overall thermal comfort, thus creating associated problems with staff and passengers’ comfort and higher energy costs.
Following a detailed site survey, we recommended installing two Microshield Air Barriers above each doorway. Each unit was fitted with dual auto-actuators, ensuring the Air Barriers only operated when the doors were open, optimising energy efficiency.
To validate performance, temperature readings were taken within one metre of each entrance. One door operated without an Air Barrier, while the other had a Microshield Air Barrier in use. When the unprotected door opened, internal temperatures dropped sharply—falling below 10°C. In contrast, the protected doorway maintained a stable internal temperature above 16°C, demonstrating the effectiveness of the seal created by the Air Barrier.
Beyond temperature control, the Air Barriers also reduce the ingress of smoke, odours, and airborne contaminants, improving air quality and overall cleanliness. Staff and passengers have reported a noticeably more comfortable environment, and reductions in heat loss and energy consumption have been observed.
