A large waste processing and recycling facility required a solution to minimise flying insect ingress into its picking room. The picking line operates with staff manually removing contaminants from a central conveyor, and the space relies on open windows for ventilation. With no physical barrier in place, insects were entering the workspace, creating hygiene concerns and discomfort for employees. The open windows also made it difficult to maintain consistent internal conditions, leading to an uncomfortable working environment and reduced operational control.
Following a detailed site survey, we recommended installing two Microshield Air Barriers (MCS) above the windows. Enershield Air Barriers recirculate internal air and deliver a smooth, laminar airflow across the opening, creating a continuous barrier. This reduces the ingress of flying insects and limits the transfer of temperature, humidity, dust, and odours between environments.
The installation has delivered a clear improvement. Staff report a significant reduction in fly ingress and a more stable, comfortable working environment, supporting hygiene and operational control.
“We are delighted with the results achieved from this solution”
